Sharon MacDonald is a licensed speech-language pathologist and certified member of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). She has earned ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and brings over 10 years of experience working with pediatrics and serving a wide range of populations with various disabilities. Sharon is passionate about helping others communicatively live their best lives.
Sharon is a certified TESOL (Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages), and taught Kindergarten in Los Angeles before becoming a Speech & Language Pathologist. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Master in Communicative Sciences & Disorders from Steinhardt at New York University. She has a vast knowledge of assessment and treatment of individuals with delays and/or disabilities and works collaboratively with families and therapists to provide best evidence-based intervention.
Sharon has spearheaded initiatives in Santa Barbara to improve communication systems in the county, school districts and in the public sector by working with the administration and local agencies to expand resources to marginalized sectors. Sharon operates her own private practice in addition to case managing and service provision in the schools. She lectures at UCSB and operates a student mentorship program for students pursuing careers as speech pathologists.
Sharon is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Mosiac Therapy Collective 501c (3). Mosaic is an accredited nonprofit organization on a mission to empower local therapists through entrepreneurship, collaboration, and community with an emphasis on providing therapy with equity!
